As I travel almost every week, I value my weekends and this was especially true last week as I was traveling through DC, MD, PA, and OH. But this Saturday I was fortunate to participate in the Kids Sports Spectacular 2011, hosted by United Spinal Association, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. This is a day where kids with disabilities can participate in a large variety of sports and other activities in the arena where the Philadelphia Flyers Hockey and 76ers Basketball Teams play. The kids even had lunch up in the VIP Suite. I have not seen so many kids with such big smiles, all day. Some of the events were street hockey, basketball, baseball, hand-cycling and martial arts, were the kids had a great time learning self-defense.
It was extremely fun and rewarding to talk with the kids and their parents about how they use EasyStand in their standing programs, and help others start a new program. The most enjoyable was hearing from families that talked with such excitement about how standing programs have helped their children improve in so many different ways.
This event was held to get kids active in a healthy life style through sporting events and to have a great time. I am very proud that EasyStand sponsors and participates in the Kids Sports Spectacular, because we have a similar mission, to keep kids healthy and active!
