A couple of weeks ago we had another photo/video shoot with one of our favorites, Chelsey Junker! This is the third modeling gig she has done with us, but this shoot was a bit more exciting than the others! We visited Chelsey at the place where she works, the Cottonwood County DAC in Windom, Minnesota. When Chelsey was a teen she was involved in a snowmobile accident that left her both paralyzed and blind. This along with a head injury can make her work challenging.
It was about 8:30am when we showed up at the DAC and I was greeted with a hot cup of coffee from some friendly fellow. Then, a smiling staff member led us back to the room where Chelsey works. She was excited for our visit! Chelsey begins her day by being transferred into her standing frame using a patient lift. Then it is off to work!
During the morning, Chelsey works on different tasks while standing in her Evolv. Most days she is busy ripping pieces of jean material that her co-workers use to weave into rugs. Then in the afternoon, she spends time in the seated position, either in her stander or in her wheelchair. While sitting, she shreds paper with the help of Kerri, her “partner in crime” as she refers to her.
“I love everyone here, everyone is so kind.” Chelsey says in her cute, quirky voice. “I love my job, I love to work here!” There was about thirty other people working at the DAC that morning, and I would be willing to bet they would all say the exact same thing. It was a morning to remember!

Do you stand at work, home, school or in therapy? What activities do you do while standing?

Seeing what she has gone through and the courage she has. I couldnt get through that story without crying.
