EasyStand Production Department With New Energy Efficient Lighting

The EasyStand factory has new energy efficient lighting that will help make an environmental impact.

How will what we do today impact the environment for future generations?

This is a question that many people & companies are asking themselves.  “Going Green” in one way or another, is quickly becoming a common practice for many and I, for one, am ecstatic about it!  Many employees here believe in living a more environmentally green lifestyle.  I was curious to see how our company matched up, so I started doing some research on ways that Altimate Medical was “Going Green”.  Here is what I found:

Paper Reduction
Over the past five years, Altimate Medical has been making strides towards using less printed materials and more digital formats.  For instance, our website and email newsletters have become the most widely used sources of product information. Altimate Medical has greatly reduced the amount of paper used in our printed catalog by 75% in 2008, compared to 2004.  We have also reduced our paper consumption by:

  • Implementing an electronic faxing system
  • Utilizing digital factory job travelers
  • Giving our customers the option of emailed statements
  • Creating digital reports versus printed reports

Company-Wide Recycling Initiative
Recycling bins are located throughout the office, production, and employee break room areas to ensure recycling of cardboard, paper, plastic, aluminum and tin.

Energy Efficient Lighting
Altimate Medical recently upgraded the lighting in our building to become more energy efficient & environmentally friendly. According to Xcel Energy, upgrading our lighting is comparable to the environmental impacts listed below:

  • Total greenhouse gas reduction (pounds of CO2) of 63294.7
  • 6.2 Passenger cars not driven for one year
  • 3269.8 gallons of gasoline
  • 0.24 acres of forest preserved from deforestation
  • 9.67 tons of waste recycled instead of land-filled

Production Procedures
Our production department works to reduce waste by:

  • Re-using scrap foam as packaging material
  • Recycling excess cardboard and/or paper
  • Switching to corrugated pallets (instead of wood or plastic pallets) on March 1, 2009

I am very pleased to find out about these current steps that Altimate Medical is taking.  I am also excited about more “Going Green” plans already in the works for the future.

Is this a cause that you believe in?  Tell us about some ways that you or your company is “Going Green”.

Very Cool. I think more companies will need to be more self-reflective, at the very least. I believe that the more people who take an active role, makes information and resources more readily available so the “going green” process can take a more automated form–rather than an “extra effort” Thanks for the great post and keep up the good work!

I found it almost shocking how much our paper/catalog usage went down in recent years, mostly due to most people finding the information they need on our website instead of requesting a printed catalog.
