A Lifetime of Standing for Under $10,000 (Video)

This is a guest post on the EasyStand Blog from Peter Wankelman, Western Regional Sales Manager and Educator for Altimate Medical Inc.

My name is Peter Wankelman and for the past 15 years I have earned the reputation as the “Altimate” Road Warrior. In that time as an employee of Altimate Medical my schedule has often been – 2 weeks on the road 1 week at home, 2 of 3 weeks in the field working with RTS’s and Therapists in schools, clinics and hospitals – evaluating, fitting and in-servicing standing devices . I have lectured on the benefits of standing in over 150 cities in six countries. I have worked in early intervention centers, schools, model spinal cord hospitals, veteran’s hospitals and extended care facilities.

All with goal of facilitating a lifetime of standing compliance for people in wheelchairs.

Please watch the video below, to learn about how the new EasyStand Bantam makes a lifetime of standing achievable and affordable.

Individuals are designed to stand up – standing devices support them in a standing position with the best posture possible based on their diagnosis. I’ve worked with clients from around 8 months of age to over 80 years old, with the goal of facilitating a lifetime of standing compliance for people in wheelchairs.

Clinicians have choices when prescribing standing devices. Types of devices include fixed upright for early intervention or supine, prone and multi-position for pre k children – plus sit to stand and standing wheelchairs for school age children and adults.

Sit to Stand standers are most often selected for middle school age children through adult and geriatric clients. Standing wheelchairs are up to five times the cost of a dedicated standing device and the client’s physical size makes transfers more difficult with other types of standers. 90 plus percent of adults, compliant with their standing program use an EasyStand, sit to stand stander. Research, anecdotal evidence and common sense say people who are compliant with a lifetime standing program have better physical, cognitive, social and vocational outcomes.

Altimate Medical introduces the EasyStand Bantam, a new type of stander designed to ease the transition from fixed up right and supine standers typically used in an early intervention program to a sit to stand stander, often used in schools. The Bantam with optional growth kit fits children from 28 to 54 inches tall. The EasyStand Evolv standing system with growth kit fits individuals from 4 feet to six feet two inches tall weighing up to 280 pounds.

A lifetime of standing, from pre K to geriatric with EasyStand, two standers – two growth kits, starting under ten thousand dollars.

What do you think about a lifetime of standing in a sit to stand stander? Do you see how starting a child standing in the Bantam would prepare them for standing in the future?
